Te Aka Niwhaniwha: Community Work-based Project

This course enables the student to engage in a practice-based research inquiry relevant to the student’s specific context. Through a negotiated project, the student will demonstrate research proficiency and/or analytical skills relevant to advanced work in his/her professional practice field.

Description

The learning outcomes for this course are:

Critically appraise one’s own position, and the impact of actual and potential power relationships within an organisation or group with a view to leadership, effecting change and/or conducting a project

Engage robustly and authentically with relevant communities, organisations and/or professional bodies

Critique different research approaches, designs and methodologies used in the analysis and interpretation of research data. Select, in preparation for own project, how is this extends understandings developed in previous courses

Critically evaluate the ethical and cultural implications of research.Propose and undertake robust and substantial research intended to examine and advance practice within own professional context

Critically evaluate the outcomes of research

Provide constructive feedback and reflection to support the ongoing development of their peers
