Midwifery Scope of Practice
To enable the student to gain comprehensive knowledge and skills relating to physiological childbirth and the role of the midwife, within the context of the midwife/woman partnership.
Describe and explain physiology relating to pregnancy, labour and birth and puerperium.
Apply knowledge and professional frameworks when working with women within the midwifery scope of practice.
Assess and evaluate the nutritional status of women in pregnancy and apply the principles of healthy eating to promote health and wellbeing throughout the childbirth continuum.
Demonstrate achievement of the Midwifery Council of New Zealand Competencies at second year level.
